GOV. BUSH PROPOSES INCREASE IN COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTERS

"The most difficult places to build a quality health facility
are the very areas where the need is greatest - and where
patients have the least ability to pay," Governor Bush said in
his remarks.  "For these Americans, community health centers
are the answer.  Now numbering 3000 across the country, the
centers have become America's safety net."

Community health centers are medical clinics that offer one-
stop services for prevention care, free vaccines, health
alerts, disease screening, and counseling.  They are
community-owned and locally-administered.  The Bush plan will
increase the number of community health centers from 3000 to
42000.

IN THE NEWS...

Boston Globe
RECORD SHOWS GORE LONG EMBELLISHING TRUTH
Walter Robinson and Michael Crowley
04/11/00

Excerpt:

"...for Gore, the facts have never been quite enough. Starting
as a junior congressman and continuing through this year's
primaries, Gore has regularly promoted himself, and skewered
his opponents, with embroidered, misleading, and occasionally
false statements to a degree that even some of his allies
concede is rare for a politician of his stature.

"...a review by the Globe of Gore's public statements over
more than 20 years, as well as two recent biographies, suggest
that the pattern has been more pronounced than previously
believed, and that it remains unchecked."
